After dying, if you become a ghost, will you haunt people? I myself won't. Even if God tells us that we dead souls MUST haunt the living, I'll only pretend to do so. Instead of terrifying folks, what I'll actually be doing is carefully providing people with whatever small help that they need to make their day go smoothly.
For instance, if I see a businessman put on his hat & pick up his briefcase, I'll assume that he's about to head outside & start up his Cadillac. Now, since I am a ghost, I am privy to behind-the-scenes details, therefore I happen to know that this man was running very low on gas when he drove home last night, so his tank is now almost empty. To remedy this, I'll quickly float down to the filling station & fetch some fuel by cupping it up into my ghostly hands; then I'll bring it back & pour it into the car's reservoir, just in time for the businessman to turn the ignition key that starts the vehicle. In this way, I will have saved the fellow a trip: now he's not late for work. (The man is a lobbyist for a pharmaceutical company.)
