Grandpa Takes His Teeth Out

After dining on turkey for hours, the whole extended family takes a seat in Living Room A — all except Grandpa, that is: Grandpa sits in Living Room B.

Why does my family segregate itself like this? I’ll tell you the reason: It’s because nobody can stand the sight of Grandpa’s false teeth. Would you like me to explain more? OK, I will:

You see, Grandpa has false teeth inside his mouth, and he always removes them after eating food. And then he scowls at anyone who looks at him. This makes the rest of the family feel uptight, as if it’s somehow our fault that his mouth is gummy.

I, for one, find Grandpa’s toothless state interesting. It brings up so many questions. I wonder: How does he eat roast beef? How does he eat steak? Wouldn’t these foods cause his false teeth to shatter?

Also: note how curious it is that Grandpa can remove the false teeth from his mouth with such ease, despite the fact they’re glued in there with the same adhesive that holds together U.S. bridges.
