I live in a large, brick, Colonial-style house in the suburbs. The sole peculiarity about my abode is that, in place of a roof, it has a ceiling made of cellophane.
The saleslady from C.C. Corporation persuaded me to purchase this feature. She said that I would love it, because the transparency of the cellophane would allow more sunlight into my residence. I expressed concern about rain and snow possibly getting in as well, but she said that the cellophane would be airtight around all the edges, and that it would keep out gentle showers, but that the snow in winter might build up and cause the ceiling to collapse under its weight. — “Well,” I replied, “here in Minnesota, we usually get pretty heavy snowfall, but maybe the weather will be mild from this point on. I’ll take a chance and purchase the ceiling anyway.”
So the construction crew showed up in a truck filled with rolls of cellophane, and it took them a week and a half to complete the installation. That was in mid-August. It’s now nearing the end of September, and I’ve been happy with the results.
