Lost in the Forest

Well, here I am: deep in the woods. Blast my luck. I’m standing here between some green trees, and there is a chilly wind blowing. I see sticks, stones, leaves, and mud. Mysteriously, there are no birds in the vicinity. After standing and waiting for a while, I’m still in the same place. I think I just glimpsed a bear amid the foliage. Now I’m going to be late for work.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: All I see is brushwood and undergrowth. I have no sense of direction. God, please, help me. I keep scanning the wilderness, hoping that a clue will pop up, but all I discover is a narrow crack in the dirt. After gathering a bundle of branches, I begin to trek forward while shoving one twig after another into the ground to mark where I’ve been. I wonder whether I should travel right or left, and which direction is north. I wish I could find the middle path. I don’t belong here; my home is in the metropolis. Now I need to hunt bunnies for sustenance; also, if I don’t find a source of clean water, I’ll become dehydrated, and that will spell my doom. Yes, I’m lost in the forest without a clue how to survive or escape. Hey, but wait: what’s that, up ahead?—I think I just spotted my apartment complex!
