Tie Up the Hog

Look at that critter all squealing out: Let’s get the rope and tie him on up. Sis, do-si-do on over here and help make a rope, so we can lasso this vermin. Hold him down — he keeps wiggling away. Afterwards, we can drive the tractor out to the Worm Farm and get some straws to chew on plus some overalls painted green. Then spend a few hours pokin’ hay bales. There’ll be plenty of time for lookin’ purty this evenin’ — right now, we need to get down in the mud and tie up the hog.

Man, this piggy’s bent on slippin’ and slidin’. I’m tryin’ to help him back to his pen, but he’s a stubborn old boy. Stop jumpin’ rope, sis — we need that for Hoss: he went squealin’ right round into the backwoods. Don’t cut him no slack. Watch that mud, boy, I darn near slipped. There: now he’s flat on his back, yessir; I’ll make the hogtie. You go fetch the cows from the shed, now, and we’ll put ’em on the trailer along back of the rig.
