My childhood friend Dan entered the pharmaceutical business and became a dope dealer. So he loitered around in our neighborhood and sold drugs to children. His catchphrase was “Get it while it’s hot!” Dan drove a luxury sedan and wore expensive shoes and a fancy hat. He thought that toxic substances were enjoyable to abuse and permissible to profit from; since vending pharmaceuticals was a fast way to make lots of money, he ignored the consequences of his behavior and acted irresponsibly.
Thus pressing his luck, one day Dan walked down the wrong side of the street and got shot by a gun. This experience taught Dan that dealing dope is neither wise nor enjoyable. Now Dan is dead. That’s what happens when you sell mind-altering substances outside the official marketplace: You end up with a bullet in your brain.
