Andy Warhol made a hip-hop record; but no one ever listened to it, because it was too long. It’s now lost to history, but you and I got to hear it, so we can testify that it was really weird:
Mr. Warhol was rapping at a very fast tempo over a drum machine’s rhythm track, and there were mean-sounding guitars in the background. He rapped in a style that was obviously copied from Big Daddy Kane. The lyrics were mostly about the Mets baseball team, but there were a couple lines where Mr. Warhol asked his sweetheart to join him in marriage. The booming bass was obnoxiously loud, and Mr. Warhol’s hair was silver. All the younger teens loved it.
