Red Wing

Do you want to know an excellent place to catch some fish? I have a great place to tell you about. It’s a secret place that I go to — it’s called Red Wing, Minnesota. Lock and Dam No. 3 is located on the Upper Mississippi River. I stand there for hours fishing, using a liver for bait. The way I found out about it was that someone told me about the place; but, the first time I tried it, I thought it was a scam, because, after a long time of waiting, I was getting no action. I felt like a chump, standing there with nothing happening. Yet, just then, all of a sudden, I saw my rod tip bend. I set the hook, because I thought I had a fish. However, when I pulled it up, all I said was: “Yuck.” It was no walleye — it was a catfish. I honestly would have been happier to catch an old shoe. But fishing at Red Wing is really satisfying — it’s the only place where there’s no ice in March. But that means the surface ain’t safe to walk on. Red Wing fishing hole, I’m telling you. Walleyes are concentrated in one spot, because of the lock and dam. There’s a large variety of fish populating that area. Red Wing is . . . I don’t even know what to say about it.
