I use a telephone whenever I want to speak to one of my friends. Telephones are in fashion, at the moment. They have big numbers and twirly cords, and they were invented by Benjamin Franklin or President Taft. All telephones have a bell that rings and a circular dial, plus a smooth operator who connects your call to the switchboard. It doesn’t matter if your receiver is large or small, for all telephones work the same: There is a pole with some wires, and this helps your voice travel fast over the countryside.
